Notes:
Trade data from U.N. Comtrade have been cleaned using the procedure of Feenstra et al. (NBER Working Paper no. 11040, January 2005), and coverted from HS 6-digit codes to sic87dd codes using a crosswalk provided at www.ddorn.net/data.htm. The variables "l_import_usch_YYYY" indicate the value of US imports from China in year YYYY, while "l_import_otch_YYYY" provides the corresponding import values for a group of eight other wealthy countries. The variables "marketYYYY" indicate absorption in the US (domestic shipments plus net imports) in the indicated year YYYY. Dollar values are inflated to $2007 using the Personal Consumption Expenditure Index.
